Yr Eira

The Four Falls Trail in the Brecon Beacons is legendary among landscape photographers, and Sgwd yr Eira—'The Fall of Snow'—is one of its most enchanting waterfalls. When I visited in early November, I was captivated by how the cascade flows like a silky veil, its waters tumbling gracefully over the rock face into the tranquil river below.

The autumn timing was perfect. The woodland surrounding the falls was painted in these warm, golden tones that contrasted beautifully with the cool, flowing water. Using a long exposure technique, I enhanced that ethereal quality of the flowing water, giving it this dreamlike motion that seems almost otherworldly. The gentle mist rising from the falls added to that magical atmosphere, and the rugged rocks in the foreground provided such beautiful texture and depth to the composition.

What I love most about this location is the peaceful stillness it exudes despite the constant movement of water. Standing there, the only sounds are the rhythmic rush of the waterfall and the rustling of autumn leaves in the crisp air. It's one of the most picturesque spots on the entire trail, and you can feel why it's been drawing visitors for generations.
