Woven

I'd been working my way along Wyming Brook all morning, photographing different sections of this beautiful stream, when I came upon this particular spot where the water weaves through the moss-covered boulders in the most intricate pattern. The way it carved through the rocks, creating these swirling, flowing ribbons—I knew I had to capture it.

Using a long exposure technique, I was able to soften the movement of the water into these silk-like ribbons that flow through the scene. The moss-covered stones, each uniquely shaped by countless years of flowing water, stand resilient and still while the brook rushes around them. I love the contrast between the dynamic, fluid motion of the water and the solid, timeless quality of the rocks—it creates this sense of both energy and meditation.

The rich earth tones of autumn leaves scattered across the landscape added warmth to the cool, reflective surfaces of the stream. Standing there, the only sounds were the rushing water and the gentle rustling of leaves, and the air was filled with that wonderful scent of damp earth and pine. It's one of those moments where everything feels perfectly balanced—the perpetual motion of the brook flowing around these ancient stones that have stood here for centuries.
