About This Photo

Hidden deeper within the Brecon Beacons, Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn—the lower falls—creates this breathtaking display that honestly took my breath away when I first saw it. The cascading tiers of water flowing over ancient rock formations are absolutely dramatic, and I knew I had to capture this moment at its most powerful.

I visited during peak autumn when the foliage was at its finest, and the warm hues framing the falls were just spectacular. The silky rush of the river flowing over those time-worn rocks, combined with the mist gently rising from the water, created this ethereal atmosphere that made the whole scene feel like stepping into a forgotten world. Using a long exposure technique allowed me to capture both the dynamic movement of the falls and the stillness of the surrounding landscape—that unique sense of balance between power and serenity.

What draws me to this waterfall is the rich textures everywhere you look—moss-covered rocks shaped by centuries of flowing water, golden autumn leaves adding depth and warmth, all working together as the water carves its determined path through the valley. The interplay of all these elements creates such a captivating composition.

When you look at this photograph, I want you to feel that energy and tranquility combined—nature's raw power on full display yet somehow creating this sense of peace and timelessness, inviting you to pause and appreciate one of Wales' most spectacular natural wonders.
