Taken on 20 July 2025, Gateway to Garda captures the sweeping view from Castello di Arco, looking south across the town of Arco with Monte Brione standing proud in the distance and the northern edge of Lake Garda just beyond. The climb up to the castle is steep, especially under the heat of a July afternoon, but the reward at the top is worth every step.
I remember pausing just outside the castle walls for a drink and a moment of calm. The view was impressive and I knew I could point the camera anywhere and I would have a gorgeous photo, but I wanted something more — something that felt unique. As I moved around, I noticed a small opening in the surrounding foliage, perfectly framing the valley below. That’s when the composition came together. Shot handheld in the warm afternoon light, it became more than just a landscape, it became a glimpse through nature’s own window.
